Shorter skirts.

A few months ago Colb and I were discussing the home we were about to purchase and the excitement we shared for the new ward. I briefly mentioned that I would be fine to go without a calling for a bit, just so we could breath and take it all in without feeling overwhelmed.
Gma F mentioned that if that was our goal, we needed to set the bar now.

"Colby, you need to wear colored shirts with no ties, and maybe a pair of jeans here and there."

"Libby, you need to wear shorter skirts. Let those garments show."

Grandma has always served faithfully in the church and loves to share stories of the mission her and Grandpa served so we knew it was all in good fun. I have to be honest though, it would have been sort of interesting to see how long we could fly under the radar with these tactics.
However, Colby looks way too good in a tie for that to go to waste on the days I get to see him and the skirts I love the most are, well, my longest.

So. It's been almost 2 months since we've moved in an settled into our new address.

Last week the Bishopric came over to "visit".
They asked us to speak - we declined. Mostly because Colby had to work.  :)
But, we did sign up for a future date.
They were so kind and brought the sweetest spirit in to our home. They kept complimenting me and the testimony that I've (apparently) already shared with many in the ward.

Bishop: "You have an amazing spirit about you Sister Carter and you've caught the eyes and attention and many people in the ward. The Lord has made it very clear that if you are willing to serve, the Young Women's Organization is where you are supposed to be right now."

Me: "That sounds amazing, where do they need an advisor?"

Bishop: "We don't need an advisor, we would like to call you to be the 2nd counselor in the YW Presidency."

Libby: ".......Silence......"

Ummm ... You guys, I've only been to church like 4 times. FOUR. Apparently that's enough. I was set apart on Sunday and attended my first activity on Tuesday.
I've got serious nerves and I'm emotionally overwhelmed but, I know this is where the Lord wants me.

I should have at least tried to wear shorter skirts.
