Mr. Carter.

Last saturday as we 'slept in' (i believe it was 7:45?) I asked Colby what we needed to accomplish today.
"We need to cover the swamp cooler on  your Mom's house and clean out your Mom's garage, once we tackle those two things, we can do whatever we want."
Seriously? The only items on his list were not about him or his only day off.
Sometimes I let life take control and I forget to count my blessings and realize how lucky I am.
I often forget what I've endured in order to get to this point in my life.
The Lord knows me, he knows my name and he knows what I need. He also knows, that I'm a 'touch the stove' kind of girl. I have to learn my lessons the hard way.
Through my divorce I have learned (and continue to learn) millions of lessons.
*My Mom is my best friend. We hit heads a lot when I was in high school and it wasn't until I called her to ask if I could move home that I truly appreciated her. It wasn't until then that I realized all the sacrifices she had made (and continues to make) in behalf of her children. Sometimes we still laugh about how life used to be and together we're grateful for lessons learned and relationships strengthened. She's my rock. The reason I stand tall, proud of who I am, no matter what it took to get here.
*Mr Carter. I've never met such a trooper. Even when the memories come flooding back, he sticks around and holds me tight. Sometimes things come up that I'm not ready for and he's ok with that. Together we take a step back and we talk about it.
It wasn't until Colby came along that I really wanted to be loved. From the very beginning I laid it all out there, put it all on the table. No lies, no deceit, no secrets, nothing. I didn't want to fall in love and let something fall out of the closet. Not once, did he question me or wonder if I was worthy and ready to be a wife, his wife. We've accomplished a lot over the last few years, more than I can count. My most favorite thing though, is when I'm reminded of my familie's approval. It's a whole new ball game when they love the one you love.
I love learning, growing, and moving on from lessons I've been blessed with.
