Run. Ran. Running.

Amazing. Overwhelming. Incredible. Fantastic. Insane Emotional. Spiritual. Awesome. Tiring. Draining. Great. Crushing. Sore Legs. Whirlwind. Fun. Spectacular. Good. Love. Hate. Fast. Encouraging. Intense.
  Ragnar.
I trained all summer long for Napa. It finally came, and I was ready. I went, and with 11 other people, we conquered.
We ran, cheered, ate, cheered, slept. Then started it all over again. Three times.
My 12.1 mileage quickly turned into almost 15 when they moved the exchange on leg #1 and when I got lost on leg #3.
The entire experience was unreal. Words can't explain how amazing it really was.
Highlights:
*Running with my big sister cheering my on the whole way - I loved watching her run and being able to do the same for her. She is the biggest reason I trained so hard.
*Getting lost. It was 4 am and I was the only runner out there. We had passed so many teams that I could have run the entire leg without seeing a single soul. Turns out, I was so lost, that about 10-15 other runners caught up to me just as I was finishing my 2.5 miles of extra mileage. Fifteen minutes before I was supposed to hand-off, my big sis knew I was lost. She turned to her husband Kirt and told him so. Without hesitation, he took off after me. He had just finished his own 3rd leg - which was just over 9 miles - and he was off, running some more, to try and find me. Kirt never found me. I crossed the finish line, handed off, and turned to find my team. Before I had a chance to ask for water, my sister had her arms around me. Tears rolled down my cheeks as the comfort of something familiar took over me.
I was never scared that I had zero clue where I was or that I hadn't seen my van in miles or that my ipod was skipping and Justin Beiber just kept playing on repeat, or that I couldn't read the map in my hand. I knew that Kady was aware of the situation and that as soon as I found my way back, she would be there. I also knew that Kirt was out looking for me. You can imagine those same little innocent tears that come every time I tell this story.
*I met 10 new people who all became instant friends. The majority were fb friends before the race even ended!
*I experienced something that can't be explained, until you run your own Ragnar, you'll consider all my stories "Bragnar."
*Kicking Asphalt has invited me back.
     Del Sol, AZ in February.
BRING IT.
Van #1 - Kirt and 5 girls. Don't let him fool you, he loved it.
